Dr. Stephen Meyer, Keynote Speaker

Please join us for the IMPACT NWC 2010 Fundraiser.  We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Stephen C. Meyer as the keynote speaker for our 9th Annual Fundraiser, IMPACT NWC 2010, to be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010, at the Spokane Convention Center.

Both a Whitworth graduate and former Whitworth Professor, Dr. Meyer received his PhD in the History and Philosophy of Science at Cambridge.  In 2002 he became the founder and director of the Discovery Institute's Center for Science and Culture in Seattle.

Dr. Meyer is a foremost scholar in the field of Intelligent Design, a scientific theory about life's origins that challenges theories of evolution.  He regularly debates leading evolutionary proponents and challenges the strict teaching of evolution in public schools.  He recently published Signature in the Cell, a landmark book on Intelligent Design.

He has also authored numerous articles in publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Houston Chronicle, The Chicago Tribune, First Things and National Review.

Dr. Meyer was a contributing expert for Focus on the Family's The Truth Project.  He is also the host of TrueU, a DVD-based apologetics curriculum primarily geared to help prepare high school students to face the attacks and challenges they will confront once they are in college.  His dynamic style coupled with profound expertise is truly engaging.  (www.tinyurl.com/meyerintro)

In recognition of his research and defense of Intelligent Design, Dr. Meyer was named 2009 "Daniel of the Year" by "WORLD", the news magazine with a Christian world-view.

Dr. Meyer lives in the Seattle area with his wife and family.  His children attend a Christian school in that area.
